Kevin's Kidney & me is intended to be a look at the lighter side of my world since receiving a life saving kidney from a real human being whose gender and name I do not know. It is in no way intended to make light of the deceased as their life must have been valuable to their family, friends and loved ones.
I feel horrible that it took this person's death to allow me to have this life changing operation, but I am also so very thankful for it. I feel the best way I can honor the life of the deceased is to account for the accomplishments I can achieve both big and small.
While sometimes this blog will track the more difficult side of our journey together, I do hope that it more frequently tells a tale of joy and triumph.
To the family and loved ones of my kidney donor, I hope someday to write to you and to hear back from you and to possibly meet you and perhaps share mine and your loved one's journey with you.
Thank You
Bil Silliker
P.S. just typing that made me cry... some times this is just really heavy stuff and unless you've been through it you just have no idea.
