So three weeks ago today I got my new Kidney... a.k.a. Kevin's Kidney. While there's not much to report on the accomplishments front, I do think a weekly update is in order for at least the next few weeks. Maybe the first two months, then after that change it up to monthly or when something interesting happens for better or worse.
Speaking of better or worse... this week was much better than last week. Last week I ended up back in the hospital mid week for a single overnight. This week went swimmingly. Did labs on Monday, saw my doctor on Thursday. Numbers still look good. They swapped up a couple of my meds and asked me to make sure that I'm drinking plenty throughout the day.
I also found out I have a mild case of AFib. When I came out of the hospital last week I had some new meds. I started taking them on Thursday night and on Friday I started seeing a new image show up on my Blood Pressure monitor. It was of a little heart and a jagged line like a heart beat line but it was irregular. So I mentioned it my last appointment and they gave me one of the EKGs or ECGs whatever one of those would help them to make some kind of determination.
Now if you ask me, it's too suspicious that this all started when I started taking a new medication. But when I asked if that could be the reason they said no and said I've probably had it for a while and just didn't know about it. Personally, I'm not buying it. Sandra Fallica, or any other nurses out there... this is your chance to set me straight.
Aside from that, it was a good week. No overnights in the hospital. My wounds are healing up nicely. I still need to get my staples out, but I don't know when that will happen. On a non kidney related front I went to lunch with a couple of my sisters and my brother-in-law. It was nice to get out of the house a little but man was it cold. And I posted my new non kidney related blog, "Robots in the Paint", which is actually an old blog that I had dropped but now I'm bringing it back.
My name is Bil... and I still have no tag line, but apparently I have AFib.
